"How can I sleep when it's cheddar to make"
This Master Pen is truly overdue. A pen that stays sharp and gets sharper with every release must be acknowledged. F.R.H. has been displaying his Master Pen every Sunday with his infamous Sunday Series, that gives you high quality with each release. His latest release "Locked In" is some of his finest work and we had to know more about this incredible record. F.R.H. was gracious enough to take time to tell us more about "Locked In". Below he breaks down his Master Pen.
Who is F.R.H the artist?
Well, lets start with the man. I am a Fly Revolutionary Hustler at my core. Someone who is dedicated to making money in a calculated way, who stands for his people, and has a presence that's unique and unforgettable. Those traits tend to shine through the music. Artistically, I'm a versatile artist who takes pride in incorporating different melodies and flows that people can FEEL-- all while staying true to being a clever lyricist.
What inspired the high powered lyrical approach to “Locked In”?
I work closely with a group of producers called Recipe Orlando. This beat was in the first batch that they ever sent me. I knew I wanted to keep the high energy vibe that I initially felt from the beat. I came up with the hook first and the content followed from there. The subject matter is based on being Locked in (Focused) Locked and Loaded (strapped and ready for whatever) and being Loaded (drunk). So that simple ass hook kind of led the path. haha
In your opinion what is the bar you wrote that you knew would get people’s attention and break it down?
Damn That's a good question. I don't think I gave it that much thought when I was writing. You never know how close people are listening versus just vibing out to the flow and the beat. For those into clever wordplay the second verse is full of it. Here's an example:
Tell em that u straight , that you goin off on a limb/ that's my third leg [Connecting the saying "going off on a limb" to literally going off on my limb (pause lol) ], watch my word play/ play ya part, don't you start, you on third string [sports analogy of a back up not being able to start and telling her to play her role]/
What do you think is the bar that people may sleep on listening to “Locked In” and why?
"Shit I'm a Beast/ Killin Ya X Men, Tell em they weak" When I wrote that I laughed and figured no one would see I was connecting the Character "Beast" with X Men. Its cool though...Rapper shit. lol!
What would you rate your pen on “Locked In” 1-10? 10 being the highest?
You can't ask an artist that! I feel like it all depends on the mood your in. I think its a great workout or pregame song. I'll leave the ratings to the people.
What can people expect next from F.R.H. ?
More music! I've been releasing a song every Sunday as part of the Sunday Streams series. Next week I'm releasing a song called White Cop, which is one of my personal favorites, but also the exact opposite vibe from this one. Have to continue to show yall the Range!
