The next big female emcee from Queens Pink Henny discusses her unique name, style, "Bloopers", and what's next

16 Dec

"Some people are just stars". Was a quote used when describing this artist and it's nothing but fact that the next big female emcee from Queens will be Pink Henny! She has a style that's exciting and hearing her on her song "Bloopers" just made her undeniable. We were fortunate enough to get Pink Henny to do a quick interview with us below.

Who is Pink Henny the artist?

Pink Henny is a vibe.

How did you come up with the name Pink Henny?

Well, it actually came to my friend in a dream when we were first trying to create my Instagram name. Plus my favorite color is pink and during that time in my life, everyone around me knew my favorite drink was Hennessy so it sorta just made sense.

What are some of the influences for your style?

Honestly, a lot of my influences come from my culture and environment. I'm Jamaican, so I grew up in a Jamaican household and had that Caribbean upbringing along with being a New Yorker, so it was a mixture of both cultures' hunger and hustle. I also grew up listening to Nicki, Vybz Kartel, Kanye and Young Thug, so artist-wise I would say that they're some of my childhood influences.

What was your approach when creating “Bloopers”?

I wouldn't say I had a specific approach going into the song. For most of my songs, Swish Allnet creates the beat and I write the lyrics in the studio and then we just vibe out. So for Bloopers, it was just the vibe in the studio that day. We were all high and it was good vibes and I just felt like talking my shit.

What is the biggest thing you want people to take away from your music?

I want people to be lit, finesse, and make the best out of life regardless of the situation.

What can people expect next from Pink Henny ?

I have a lot more music and content coming. I'm gonna be putting out another single in 2019 and also working on an EP.
