The Producer Spotlight is all about showcasing the sound men of the game. The people who can control the boards and create some game changing magic. When I heard chris x slikk "rush hour 2 it's a sequel" I knew I had to have whoever produced that on here. I didn't have to look far when I found out that the producer was also an artist on the track chrisfrmkro. This multi - talented artist and producer is an incredible talent the world should know. The spotlight is on chrisfrmkro.

Who is chrisfrmkro the Producer?

That's always a difficult question to answer but i'd say a complete artist. I'm a producer, a rapper, a songwriter and do a lot to create within music and outside of it. My production is always inspired by trying to create the backdrop of whatever mood i'm in and further inspire my writing. Above all else, I'm an artist.

How did you get into producing?

I got into producing because I got tired of looking for beats on soundclick 10 years ago and I taught myself. Very quickly it became a passion of mine in it's own right and I went from there and started trying to perfect my craft.

What production software do you use and why?

I use FL Studio for my production and truthfully because it's the only one I was aware of back then and once I got fluent with it I couldn't see myself using anything else. People give FL a lot of flack but I swear by it, it's just as useful as any DAW and it's the best software to use when you're just starting out. I've dabbled with Logic and Pro Tools but i love FL.

What was your creative process for the production on “rush hour 2 it’s a sequel “?

That song was one of my favorites off of the collab tape and it was a lot of fun to make. It started out with me actually trying to show Slikk Darko some things on FL studio but once he got inspired to write his verse it was a wrap. The first part is actually a sample we reversed and added a bunch of effects to in perfecting Slikk's part but i'm a big jazz fan and wanted to rap over the loop. When we heard how it transitioned so well we knew it had to be the intro.

What was your favorite project to work on?

Well my favorite project I've ever worked on is one that isn't out yet. I have a projected that I produced for fellow St. Louis rapper Mafioso Caine and instrumentally, I feel as if it's my best work. Myself, Slikk Darko, and Mafioso Caine are a team and we wanted to take our city by storm in 2019. We planned the chris x slikk project, and our three separate solo projects all of which I have a huge hand in producing and for that project in particular I handled all of the production.

Which artist would you love to collab with and why?

I'd have to say my dream collab as a producer would be Isaiah Rashad, Syd (from The Internet) Blu or Noname just because I'd love to hear them over my production style. As a rapper, I'd love to collab with Flying Lotus. The way he attacks his production and the amount of emotion he's able to cram into a track without lyrics has always been an inspiration to me and it's a big reason I approach songs the way I do.

What’s next for chrisfrmkro?

The next thing for me is release the other projects we have ready for the top of the year. I have a solo project entitled "high idea vol. 2" I'm handling all of the production on as well as the new Mafioso Caine project I've produced. Also the next chris x slikk project is in motion.
