"We greater than what history has made us, We greater than prisons won't let it chain us"
A problem with a lot of music today is that it lacks soul. It lacks that thing that gets you emotionally connected and paints pictures for you through the words that are being spoken. Anyone looking for all of that amd more can stop their search at Chicago's own Neak on his new track "For My City".
Neak first appeared on the Global Media Blog with his song "Legacy" that really displayed his lyrical prowess over a hard soulful production. This time he is back on this soulful jazzy production that he rhymes as fluid as wine on, which couldn't be more fitting since he's getting better with time.
Neak's flow on "For My City" is very poetic as his words flow with ease and grabs you in with every word that flow well over this production that reminds me of Marvin Gaye's "I Want You" album. Neak continues to give impressive lyrics with deep lines like "We all made in his image but we sleepwalk" that really grab your attention and make for a superb record.
