"You leaving ya mark, I'm leaving my prints"

Hip Hop is an ever growing genre. So much music from so many artists that it can become over crowded. You have to be undeniable to stand out and believe me when I tell you , _Trav is one of a kind talent that shines from the pack. After hearing _Trav's "BIGWORMTAPE" we just had to know more abut the man behind this classic work of art. _Trav was gracious enough to take the time to answer some questions for us. Below is the interview.

Who is _Trav the artist?

My real name is Travis, I’m from Brooklyn,NY Canarise aka Da Flo$$y I’m of Haitian and Chinese decent. Grew up listening to hip-hop and R&B my whole life but I do enjoy jazz, classical and Neo soul as well. I would definitely say my mom is the reason why am so into music now I remember her buying me my first CD player and get Rich or die trying which is one of the first album I ever owned. It didn’t help that when I got grounded she would take everything but my radio so it was always on hot 97 or 105.1. The definition of _ ( underscore ) is a line drawn under a word or phrase, instead of putting it under my name I put it next to it because depending on how I’m feeling, lifestyle at the moment or mood I’m in musically I’ll emphasis that, ya dig ?

What are some of the influences for your unique style?

I would say this, the old-school hip-hop thrives off of the lyrics and flows, New school hip-hop thrives off feelings and flows, I love both of them. I respect originality so I really pushed myself to be different from other artists. It’s a cliché statement but I’ll try to do something new every time I write a song and it shows in the tape.

You can thank the following: OutKast, Biggie, MF doom, Wu-Tang, Mobb Deep, Nas, Jay Z , Kanye, common, 50 Cent, Young Jeezy, Wiz Khalifa, Curren$y, Dom Kennedy, Kendrick Lamar, scHoolboy, Ab soul, Rick Ross, Snoop Dogg, Nipsey Hussle, polyester the Saint, AZ 3DM, King Louie, Jay Electronica. I left out of a lot of other artists that are dope tho lol

What was your approach when creating your new project “BIGWORMTAPE”?

Big Worm started off as a mood, Friday is one of my favorite movies and BiG WORM is one of my favorite characters from the movie even though he only had about maybe 5 minutes of movie time he’s important to the movie. He’s a relatable character for me and probably a lot of people who grew up in that environment, he reminds me of the dope boys I remembered growing up watching and the plugs/homies I’m cool with now. Kapital who’s been my homie since high school sent me Cash rules and that was the springboard for all the other beats. In a time where everybody is biting each other’s  sound I wanted to make sure I represented for my hometown and kept it as original as possible all while giving you 9 minute of a vibe with me and the homies.

How does it feel now that “BIGWORMTAPE” is out to the people?

It’s been a whole year since I wrote and  recorded it so the feeling can never truly be explained.

What song from the project have you received the most feedback on?

LUV TO THE PLUG is surprisingly for me has received the most feedback, now that I know that it’s a favorite watch out for the vid it’s going to be dope.

What can people expect next from _Trav?

“ MAMA$ BOY “and a Group Project “ 5LEVN “

More vibes more videos 2019 is going to be a good one.
